Our last hike in Patagonia was in the beautiful French valley. This hike took us back to Lake Nordenskjold, where we took a catamaran to hike in the French valley. This is stunning amphitheater like valley with hanging glacier. This is also a challenging hike with a round trip of more than 12 miles and some pretty steep sections.
The entire hike is beautiful with lots ups and downs.
To get to the hike we again had a long shuttle ride to the lake Pehoe. The lake Pehoe has vivid turquoise waters and is dramatically situated with views of horns and surrounding peaks. We crossed this lake on a catamaran to get to the trailhead.
We then hiked quite a bit along lake Skottsberg with its cobalt blue waters and views of the horns
The weather was not the best with some lingering drizzle. However, that gave us view of this beautiful rainbow.
After reaching the Italian camp, the real uphill started till we got to the Glacier Frances.
We stopped here for lunch, but the weather turned very fast and we started getting lot of wind and freezing rain/snow. So we all hurriedly wrapped up and headed back.
Though this is a spectacular hike, the weather was not the best and it obscured some of the views. This was our last hike and we were glad that we had completed everything we had set out to do.
Tomorrow we head out early to Santiago and then home.
